Groups Rally in Albany as Part of Global Call for Climate Justice at COP26

As part of a Global Day of Action for Climate Justice on Saturday, November 6, Capital District climate, community, and faith groups marched and rallied in Albany from the South End to the O’Brien Federal Office Building.

Merton Simpson, Albany County Legislator and SHARE co-leader, was a featured speaker at the rally at the end of the march. Other SHARE steering committee members participating included Mark Dunlea (lead organizer of the march and rally), Mary Finneran (featured speaker), Bob Cohen, Mark Schaeffer, and David Musser.

Hundreds of similar climate events took place Saturday worldwide in conjunction with the COP26 UN Climate Summit in Scotland, with large rallies in Glasgow and London. The Albany rally called for Mandatory Emissions Cuts, Climate Debt Reparations for developing countries, Climate Jobs, and a Just Transition.
